Speaker Biography
Professor Jason Tye-Din is a clinician-researcher who leads the Coeliac Research Laboratory at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute, Australia, and is a gastroenterologist at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. His research has identified key T cell epitopes in gluten relevant to coeliac disease and also the immune response to gluten ingestion, including interleukin-2. His work aims to improve understanding of how gluten triggers symptoms, immune activation, and intestinal damage in coeliac disease with the goal of advancing diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment. He collaborates with academic and industry partners on investigator-initiated and sponsored therapeutic studies. He is also an advocate for coeliac disease awareness and safe gluten-free foods, and as Co-Chair of the ISSCD Gluten Safety and Standards Committee, is involved in supporting evidence for gluten reference doses and global food safety standards.
