Anke WEIßENBORN

Anke Weissenborn is a nutritional scientist, working in the Department of Food Safety at the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment in Berlin, Germany. There, she is involved with risk assessment of micronutrients and other substances in foods and dietary habits of the general population and vulnerable sub-groups such as pregnant and breastfeeding women as well as infants and young children. Through her work, she provides scientific advice to risk managers, mainly to the federal government in Germany. She also contributes to the work of the Codex Alimentarius Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses (CCNFSDU) and is member of the scientific advisory board of the German network "Healthy Start – Young Family Network", which aims at promoting a healthy lifestyle during pregnancy and the first three years of life, with respect to healthy eating, physical activity and allergy prevention. As member of this network, she also contributed to the latest revision of the German S3-guideline on allergy prevention.
